The project "Time Zone — Creation and Exploration of Contemporary Young College Teachers", curated by AMNUA, will be officially launched on November 23, 2013. The exhibition will show more than 60 works of 28 the most representative young artists from different areas and faculties.

Universities are not only the place young artists silently work on, but also the survey sampling plots and well-equipped laboratories. As an art museum of a university, AMNUA take practice and exploration of young teachers as a breakthrough, sample and analyze in the soil and plots when the creation begins. Nationwide professional art colleges and art colleges of universities constitute the object of investigation. The goal of "Time Zone — Creation and Exploration of Contemporary Young College Teachers" is to find the most representative, unique and experimental artists in similar professions and institutions.The core idea is around the teaching experiment and reform of various institutions,new teaching methods of exploration, creation methodology updates, creative talent straining mode, etc..It also discusses the distributions and regenerations of artists' knowledge, expressions of creative experience, the care of sociology and the forms for the experiments in media age.

Through 10-month trekking, our art curatorial team comprehensively investigated more than thirty institutions,and hundreds of artists' studios. Ultimately they selected the most representative 28 young artists from different geographical backgrounds and faculties. Exhibitors works include painting, sculpture, installation, performance, video, photography and other art forms. Apparently they show the dialogues of various artistic categories, in essence, it is the vast space dimension diverse artistic concepts common sound. Curators also hope this show could trigger the howling sound of the public and professionals , and make them expand on the deep study of arts education.

The exhibition is divided into four units, "Questions of Form", "Inertia Flip", "Medium Temperature", "Wisdom Bridge".

(A) "Form of Questions" (Artists:Chen Xianhui, Li Qing, Liang Haopeng, Han Jianyu, Wu Junyong, Qin Jin, Jin Shan)

The intention of the artists’ innovative ideas are often from the lure of profits and the lead of market. ‘Novelty’in the form of constantly being produced, but it tends to ‘tautology’.The pursuit of ‘abnormal’ style and effect, but it tends to ‘convergence’. In this unit, the artists take the breakthrough of language form for the point, but they intend to reveal and criticize the current reality, to convey their problem consciousness of social and artistic institutional mechanisms.

(B) "Inertia Flip" (Artists: Ao Guoxing, Luo Dan, Pei Li, Shen Chaofang, Tao Damin, Xiong Lijun, Wang Yingying)

The artists of this unit has rich and diverse study, work and creative background..‘Flip’here means more choice and freedom in the way of study, which could change in different countries, cities and colleges. It also refers to the artists’ changes in psychological and artistic style when facing Asian culture and lifestyle. This module explores how artists deal with the inherent visual experience and psychological experience when facing ‘time difference’ and the strange cultural system.

(C) "Medium Temperature" (Artists: Gao Hao, He Ling, Kang Haitao, Song Zhen, Yan Yingxi, Wang Yuyang, Zhou Xianfeng)

Of course, it is necessary for the contemporary presentation of art not to be limited by category. But it is shallow if we only treat the chowder of art form as the reflection of art ‘contemporary’. The unit proposes how to create multisensory and multilevel dialogue mechanism, and how to establish an expression like ‘He who drank it knows whether the water was cold or warm’ by  the different media materials, especially traditional materials .

(D) "The Bridge of Wisdom" (Artists: Cong Wei, Feng Qie, He Li Bin, Wu Jian’an,  Wang Chao, Wu Chao, Zhang Yue)

In this section of the exhibition design, we summon a way full of spirituality of artistic practice. Only when abstract theory is profound understanded by a individual life, creative concept could integration with the artist's life experience. "Art", the communication which transcends language and text, could really enter the public context and public spaces, in order to smooth the divide between secular life and art with wisdom of the bridge .

The project named "Time Zone", precisely in order to encourage a kind of "freedom" and "self" attitude from the beginning artistic creation. We advocate pluralism, removing centrism, interdisciplinary, transcending dispute doctrine, and transcending the technical thinking. From the body full of personality, plan and work sound together. "Time Zone", will make this project be a new space with diverse ecology, which will be based on "College of Geo", but also be beyond the "College of Geo". Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts is continually striving to arts education exploration and research in national colleges. The project, "Time Zone", will not stop here. The exhibition will be extended to December 23rd.
