所有故事都是从一只被殷商纹饰所“武装”的兔子引发的。这只来自商代的兔子通过一直奔跑去往今天的月球：月亮本为蟾宫，兔子接受了命运的指引奔往月球，以完成“月兔宫”接替“蟾宫”的使命。通过新石器时代晚期到魏晋时期的文字、神话、传说、文物、纹饰等元素在月兔奔跑过程中的视觉与叙事的变化叠加，以《商兔奔月》的新故事来描绘中国高古文化与当代文明的一种视觉与思考的交融状态。对于中国传统文化，更多的印象在唐宋至明清，和传统相关的图像、图形也大致停留在那个时期。而中国的灿烂文明远不止于此。对更早时代文化艺术的挖掘，能让人们看到更多认知之外的传统文化，从而提升文化自信和拓展民族文化设计思维。商兔脱胎于神秘的、有趣的、奇幻的高古艺术纪元，亦一路载着中国先民对大自然的敬畏，对科学的研究，对宇宙的探索前进，正如中国人从未停止对未知领域发现的脚步。
完整的故事线索之外，另一条线索与当下美术馆处理图像与故事的方法相关。本次实验项目邀请AI介入——这种既让我们兴奋又让人警惕的方法——从中探讨传统文化、艺术与人工智能之间的伦理关系。我们通过在项目关键部分邀请AI的加入，通过多维度的询问与回答，在智能生成的结果中试图探索一种人机平衡合作的工作方式。替代与被替代只是一种假设，面对中国传统文化中的重要部分，这种存在于考古力与想象力作用下的文化叙事方式是否能被人工智能所替代？实验——生成——试错——修改——再实验，我们需要一种共同成长的方式来超越已有的想象。
遵从于实验的规则，《商兔奔月》中将尽可能展示项目的发生过程，生成一种有关或无关，失败或成功的工作结果，试图去寻找中国传统文化在当代展示系统与人工智能时代中，那些永远不可替代的东西。
